Cornhole Canada Registry (CCR)

Rule and Regulations

The electronic registration system used by Cornhole Canada and its members to place registered participants on their database with the information required for membership.

Jurisdictions

A Team or Player is deemed to be under the jurisdiction of their Member Province/Territory.

Divisions

Divisions mean the classes of play operated within Cornhole Canada:

Men16+ years
Women16+ years
Mixed Adult16+ years
Youth Boys15 years or under (as of September 1st of the current season)
Youth Girls15 years or under (as of September 1st of the current season)
Mixed Youth15 years or under (as of September 1st of the current season)

A division may be further subdivided based on competition level (or Categories). Each of these subdivisions shall be considered a Division.

Categories

Categories mean the level of play:

  • Tier 1 (Elite):
  • Tier 2
  • Tier 3
  • Tier 4
  • Tier 5 (Social):

Each Division may also be subdivided by age:

O50Over 50 years
O40Over 40 years
O30Over 30 years
OpenAll Ages
U15Under 15 years
U13Under 13 years
U11Under 11 years
U9Under 09 years
U7Under 07 years
U5Under 05 years

Leagues

Cornhole Canada shall only sanction one (1) league per city.

Kingston Cornhole League (KCL) will also require you to select a home host site from the available options on our website. This is where a player will play their regular league games.

Tournaments

No individual Player or Team registered with Kingston Cornhole League (KCL) shall compete in any Tournament unless that Tournament has been sanctioned by the appropriate League (geographic area) that the tournament is to be conducted, under the mandate of Cornhole Canada.

No sanctioned Tournament shall accept entries from any individual Player or Team which is not registered with a Cornhole Canada Member League. The host League will verify the eligibility of all individual Players and Teams entered in the tournament. Every individual Player or Team participating in any sanctioned Tournament must be registered within the CCR.

All sanctioned Tournaments will be played only under official Cornhole Canada rules. Should there be any variances from such rules, such variances shall be submitted at the time the application is made for a sanctioned permit.

Where a suspension has been imposed, a copy of the official Game report with all necessary supporting evidence and any recommendation regarding the suspension shall be forwarded to Cornhole Canada.

Any permit sanctioning a Tournament by Cornhole Canada may be withdrawn if it is found that Cornhole Canada or member regulations pertaining to such Tournaments are not followed.

Provincial/Territorial and National Championships

How to Qualify

KCL League Championships will occur from our Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer Leagues (if running) which will allow advancement to the Ontario Championships in certain Divisions.

Ontario Championships will occur each July to allow advancement to the Canadian Championships.

National Championship will occur annually in August.

All championship Players or Teams must be registered with Cornhole Canada within the CCR to complete. Players or Teams may only compete in one level of play (Pro, Competitive, Advanced, Recreational, or Social) however based upon age Players or Teams may play in multiple Divisions.

Divisions include Singles, Doubles, Teams

Subdivisions could occur based upon level of play (Tier 1 (Elite), Tier 2, Tier 3, Tier 4, Tier 5 (Social)) for each division.

Subdivisions could also occur based upon age (Open, O50, O40, O30, U15, U13, U11, U09, U07, U05) for each division.

Penalties/Suspensions

Any Player or Team registered in a Division for their Provincial/Territorial Championships shall give seven (7) days’ notice should they not be able to attend. Players or Teams that fail to give proper notice will receive a one (1) year suspension from Provincial/Territorial and National Championships play.

Discipline

Cornhole Canada, Ontario Cornhole League and Kingston Cornhole League have the authority to impose disciplinary sanctions pertaining to any game played within the relevant jurisdiction of each parties’ membership.

Players and Teams must follow all rules and regulations published by Cornhole Canada, Ontario Cornhole Leagues and Kingston Cornhole League.

Discipline can range from suspension of membership privileges such as sanctioned games, leagues, tournaments, and Championships to monetary fines assessed against Players and or Teams.

Fees

Cornhole Canada: Cornhole Canada will charge a fee for annual registration into the CCR system and insurance coverage (September 1 to August 31).

Local League: KCL will charge registration fees for each 10-week seasonal league.

Local/Regional Tournaments: KCL will charge registration fees for all local or regional tournaments.

Provincial Championships: OCL will charge registration fees for all Players / Teams participating.

National Championships: Cornhole Canada will charge registration fees for all Players / Teams participating.

There are also certain administrative fees which could apply to individual members in certain specific situations such as copies of governance documents, suspensions, appeals, and protest fees. A complete list can be found in the Cornhole Canada Regulations document.

Canadian National Points System (CNPS)

The CNPS was created to establish rankings for all Cornhole Canada registered participants (players) who play in sanctioned leagues and tournaments leading to and culminating at the Canadian National Cornhole Championships each August. (seasons run from September 1 to July 31, annually)

REGIONAL TOURNAMENTS AND PROVINCIAL/TERRITORIAL CHAMPIONSHIPS 
Registered participants can gain points in two (2) divisions in Regional Tournaments and Provincial/Territorial Championships:

  1. Open Singles
  2. Open Doubles

LOCAL DIVISIONS 
Registered participants can gain points in any style divisions in Local League, Local League Playoffs and Local Tournaments. Divisions Available: Open Doubles (Tier 3, 4 & 5), Women’s Doubles (Tier 5), Blind Draws (Tier 3, 4 & 5), Switcholio (Tier 3, 4 & 5). Open Singles (Tier 3, 4 & 5). Women’s Singles (Tier 5).

CATEGORY/LEVEL
There are four (4) categories for registered participants. 

  1. League (League)
  2. Social (Tier 5)
  3. Competitive (Tier 3 and Tier 4)
  4. Advanced (Tier 1 and Tier 2) (not currently available in Canada)

League (League Points)
A ‘League’ can have any registered participants regardless of skill level or dekaround score. This category is meant to help local leagues with growth

Social (Social Points – Tier 5) [Dekaround 0 – 59]
‘Social’ is considered Tier 5 and registered participants enjoy playing casually. They can enjoy the sport without having to play Competitive or Advanced players.

Competitive (Competitive Points – Tier 3 & Tier 4) [Dekaround 60 to 79]
‘Competitive’ is split into Tier 3 and Tier 4 based on CNPS ranking. This division is intended for players who are good but not at the Advanced level yet.

Advanced (Advanced Points – Tier 1 & Tier 2) [Dekaround 80 to 120] (not in Canada)
‘Advanced’ is split into Tier 1 and Tier 2 based on CNPS ranking. Players at this level fully understand game strategy.

What is Dekaround?
Dekaround is the average score of 10 rounds.

  • 1 round = 4 bags
  • 12 pts max per round
  • 10 rounds = 1 Dekaround
  • 1 Dekaround max is 120 pts

POOLS

There are five (5) pools registered participants can gain points in:

  1. Local League
  2. Local League Playoffs
  3. Local Tournaments 
  4. Regional Tournaments
  5. Provincial/Territorial Championships 

Local League
‘League Points – League Nights’. The top eight (8) players after round-robin or bracket play will earn points.* Registered participants’ top ten (10) results throughout the year will be included in the CNPS. 
*Leagues can choose to push either round-robin or bracket (playoffs) points. 

Local League Playoffs
‘League Points – League Playoffs’. The top twenty-four (24) players will earn points. Registered participants’ top five (5) results throughout the year will be included in the CNPS.

Local Tournament
Local tournaments where points in Social, Competitive and Advanced categories can be earned. The top thirty-two (32) registered participants in the Social category will earn points. All registered participants in the Competitive and Advanced category will earn points. Registered participants’ top five (5) results throughout the year will be included in the CNPS.

Regional Tournament
Regional Tournaments where points in Social, Competitive and Advanced categories can be earned. The top forty-eight (48) registered participants in the Social category will earn points. All registered participants in the Competitive and Advanced category will earn points. Registered participants’ top four (4) results will be included in the CNPS.

Provincial/Territorial Championships
Each member Province/Territory will host one (1) Provincial/Territorial Championship per season. Points in Social, Competitive and Advanced categories can be earned. All registered participants will earn points. Registered participants’ top two (2) results will be included in the CNPS.

STANDINGS
The CNPS will have a single standings including all categories/levels. The standings will include results from the registered participants: Top ten (10) Local League Points, Top five (5) Local League Playoff Points, Top five (5) Local Tournament Points, Top four (4) Regional Tournament Points and two (2) Provincial/Territorial Championships Points.
